Jane Technologies

Head of New Business

11/2020 – 07/2021·Santa Cruz, CA (remote-friendly)

Context

Third role at Jane. After building the Data business, Tim owned ideation, creation, and GTM for all new revenue-producing product lines at Jane Technologies.

Numbers

  • Jane Digital Merchandising was Jane's #1 single revenue generator at its peak — exceeding revenue from the original e-commerce subscription business. This is the headline number.ProductStrategySales
  • Jane has since acquired other revenue streams (Jane Pay cashless-ATM per-transaction revenue is one example) after Tim's tenure; current ranking is unverified from outside the company.Strategy

Products launched under Tim

1. Jane Digital Merchandising (aka "Jane Media" / Jane's ad business)

The revenue driver Tim personally launched.

  • Model: cannabis brands bid to bump their products to the top of dispensary online menus. Jane rev-shared with the retailer.
  • Business quality: an enormous revenue driver from the first quarter it was live.
  • At its peak: Jane's #1 single revenue generator, exceeding revenue from the original e-commerce subscription business. Jane has since acquired other revenue streams (e.g. Jane Pay cashless-ATM per- transaction revenue) after Tim's tenure; current ranking may differ.

2. E-commerce toolset for wholesale CPG brands ("Where to Buy")

  • Model: brands embed a filtered view of Jane's marketplace directly on their own websites — an indirect-to-consumer purchase flow that respects the retailer relationship.
  • Buyer: CPG brand marketing teams.

3. Analytics products for operators and investors

Continued expansion of the Data business built in the prior role.

Playbook (repeated across all three)

Owned the full 0-to-1 arc: MVP requirements, initial cold outreach, demos, SoW writing, contract close, and client onboarding. Built the presentation templates, demo structures, and objection-handling scripts that later sales hires inherited.

Correction note

Codex framing has evolved:

  • v0.1 (07/07): "60%+ of Jane revenue."
  • v0.2 (07/07): "Jane's #1 revenue source, exceeding e-commerce subscriptions."
  • v0.3 (07/13, current): "#1 single revenue generator at its peak" — accepting that Jane has since added other revenue streams (Jane Pay cashless-ATM per-transaction revenue is one example) after Tim's tenure. This is the honest framing: what he built was #1 at peak, and Jane's current ranking of revenue lines is not something he can verify from outside.

Interview-safe stories

  • "I launched what became Jane's #1 revenue generator at its peak." Ask Tim for the full arc: MVP thinking, which clients he talked to, why the bid-to-top model beat the flat-rate placement model.ProductStrategyGTM
  • "Three product lines in eight months." Ask Tim what he'd do differently.ProductStrategyManagement
